Jean Paul Gaultier at De Young / SF
While I am here visiting the chilly Bay Area, I decided to get some good ol’ museum visits in. Recently checked out the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the De Young.
Entering the world of fetish, Madonna madness, The Fifth Element, and Punk revival of the 90′s, I felt a surreal comfort within myself. Indeed, I can watch the fifth element back to back just for the costuming alone. Pleasure beneath image from Mr. Gaultier’s pure imagination that runs through culture traveling back into our own souls. Before you know it, society has opened itself to the ideas of one great mind, and recreated it in the skin that we reflect our own personal images of self. Demanding a new access to bridge worlds of creating and the material world of living in what we create. Gaultier is well received through out the collections, you clearly see the social, as well as his own personal discovers within his designs.
