LaQuan Smith presented his second New York Fashion Week collection Spring/Summer 2011 “A Story Book Path”, with Vogue Editor-at-Large Mr. Andre Leon Talley and his guest Designer Diane Von Furstenberg, CFDA President sitting front row. LaQuan received love from both powerful fashion influencers as his gorgeous Paris inspired modern Marie Antoinette in the 21st Century.
“I just wanted this season to be all about Romance” LaQuan gives the dirt after the show. As he executed in the Grammercy Ballroom at New York’s 5th Avenue’s Peninsula Hotel. Not only did Sandra Bernhart and Talley share comments in the front row, but other well-recognized figures were seen walking. Serena Williams got a round of applause walking out onto the runways for trying something new other than hitting the courts. Embracing the photographs and hand claps, Williams gave a big smile to the audience and her boyfriend Common.Who claimed the reason for coming, “I like fresh things, and ideas, LaQuan is fresh…”
FAAG (Fashion Art Gallery) tore away from the typical runway and introduced class and intimacy within Laquan’s collection and showing. Sheers here, lush velvets and silk gorgettes, are made for the New York girl who cannot help but invision her life everyday to be luxurious, which in 2010 we seriously must be reminded. Women need to be extreme in dressing once more. The performance of the flirtatous models was more entertaining, giving audience liviliness, rather than drained expressions.
